Noah Turns Four

Noah turned four this summer. We had his birthday party a few weeks early, because of Ben's impending arrival. There was a little bounce house, with a slide and a ball pit. Noah was in love. He played in it all afternoon until dark. And then was disappointed to find that the bounce house was gone the next day. He loved that bounce house so much, it might have to make another appearance next year.

Instead of a cake, we had an ice cream sundae bar. Noah especially loved blowing out the candle. Over and over and over. I think he might have missed the point a little. Even now, he will bring me the lighter and hand me a candle.

At four years old, Noah has an opinion about everything. He knows what he wants and if you don't agree, he screams, crosses his arms and turns away. He will not take no for an answer! But he also gives great hugs, rushes to the back door to greet you when you get home, and has finally learned to give kisses without using his tongue. Much appreciated ;) He loves playing outside, and has learned to open the front and back doors on his own. A neighbor brought him back one day after he wandered out to pet her dog. We have to remember to lock the doors now. He's doing really well going up and down steps and often doesn't need to hold a rail. He still loves all things Mickey Mouse. He's a picky eater in the sense that he's particular about how food is presented and where it's located. Nothing can be hanging from the fork, french fries must be of uniform consistency, and if he only wants one food and not the other, you had better get the offending food off the plate or he won't touch anything. Sometimes he's just being dramatic because if you put his food down and leave the room, he eats without complaining. The kid certainly likes an audience, and we're usually happy to give him one.

Happy birthday Noah! We love you!
