Easy Rider

There is nothing like your first bicycle. It's like freedom on two wheels. Well, four if you count the training wheels. We have the good fortune here in Memphis to have the Greenline. The Greenline is a series of old railroad lines that have been converted to pedestrian only paths to be used for hiking and biking trails snaking throughout the city. The best part about the Greenline is that a four year old, just learning to ride a bike, has miles of wide open pavement that is free of cars and trucks. Andrew needed surprisingly little instruction to be set off on his way to pedaling bliss. He is after all a newly minted 3K preschool graduate.

The boys got a little tired and hungry while exploring the Greenline so we had to make pit stop at one of the small locally owned restaurants abutting the path. Noah started out strong but faded quickly.

After spending some time at home during the hottest part of the day, it was Andrew's turn doze off after some swimming and BBQ over at Babcia and Jadek's. Oh yeah, he was ready for more bicycling also.

Speaking of BBQ, Agnes and I are members of a team that competes in the Memphis is May World Championship BBQ Cooking Contest. Our contribution is more of a financial and social nature than a culinary. We didn't finish as well as we hoped to in the competition but we did at least have a good time.

On a final note. I've noticed that I have ended the last few post with a picture of one of the boys sleeping. So, to change it up, I am finishing with a picture of the boys just waking up.
